Writing about owls!

I have always had a fondness for owls. They’re fascinating and mysterious. Owls are often the symbol for intellectual wisdom and in mythology are associated with wisdom and femininity.

I chose to write a book about Barn Owls because of their cute sweetheart shaped face and they are found in the Pacific Northwest. I thought it would be fun to also include some general owl facts in Hoot and Scoot, so young readers can learn a bit more about these wonderful birds.

Some of my teacher friends have already used my book as a “read aloud” for their lesson plan on “Birds of Prey”, or as an introduction to fall activities. It’s a perfect time of year to learn more about our feathered friends!

Happy Fall and Happy Halloween!
